S.T.R.O. “Gets Down to Business!”

Schaumburg Township Republicans were busy during the last week of April and the first week in May.

April 24th saw the first of monthly Precinct Captain meetings conducted at the Township Library. Over 25 captains attended and participated with Committeeman Adelizzi in forming Election Year 2008 strategy, including canvassing and voter registration.

On May 1st, Mike Rupnow, S.T.R.O. Voter Registration Chair facilitated Cook County Deputy Registrar Training, conducted by Linda Lastowski (Cook County Election Department Field Coordinator), and Befekadu Retta (Cook County Election Department). At the conclusion of the training, 20 members of S.T.R.O. wer swron in as Deputy Registrars.

May 3rd saw the final regularly scheduled monthly breakfast meeting of S.T.R.O, until September. Three featured speakers gave attendees a perspective on what to look forward to during the election ‘season’. State Rep Jim Durkin, Illinois Co-Ordinator for the John McCain Presidential Campaign, talked about plans to win Illinois on Nov 4th.

S.T.R.O. members meet Lee Roupas, Palos Township committeeman who was recently elected Cook County Republican. And Steve Greenberg, Candidate IL 8th Congressional District answered questions about his campaign from STRO members.
